ESA approval has been granted after an ESA audit of NTE’s SMT facilities and the successfully completion of a SMT assembly verification programme according to ESA standard PSS-01-738.
This approval permits NTE to have a complete and one of the most competent soldering programme in the market, which consist of:
§ A set of internal procedures for soldering process ranging from incoming inspection to final test for both through hole and SMD devices. On top this procedures are also compliant to the following ESA soldering standards:
.- Ø PSS-01-738 (ECSS-Q-70-38). "High reliability soldering for surface mount and mixed technology printed circuit boards"
.-Ø ECSS-Q-70-08. "The manual soldering of high reliability electrical connections"
.- Ø ECSS-Q-70-28. "Repair and modification of printed circuit board assemblies for space use"
§ NTE SMT assembly process approved by ESA.
§ A set of soldering facilities, tools and equipment suitable for the entire soldering process.
§ A competent soldering team, were operators and inspectors are regularly trained and certified according to ESA requisites.
This enhancement of NTE soldering programme, allows NTE to participate in ESA sponsored projects and other industry projects requiring very demanding electronics were SMT is a MUST (e.g. limited envelop, weight, power consumption).
NTE is applying the SMT technology in current projects such as MARES, EPU and LISA. |
