New software helps physicians to diagnose Thromboembolism disease in their patients
|

Thromboembolism (TE) is a leading cause of mortality if left untreated. In the United States, Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) or Pulmonary Embolism (PE) is found among 2.5-5% of adults, with a mortality rate of up to 30% in cases of untreated Pulmonary Embolism.* |

NTE has developed a new software program called DIANTHUS (Diagnostic Network Thromboembolism Utility System) designed to aid general and specialist physicians in their diagnosis of Thromboembolism in patients. DIANTHUS allows the user to quickly enter patient information, introduce test results, create patient histories, visit reports, make recommendations for treatment and more.
DIANTHUS is designed so that multiple computers in distinct hospitals or clinics are connected to a centralized server via the internet. This allows for quick start-up, automatic backup of data and low IT infrastructure requirements at the point of care.
Oscar Galcerán, Project Manager for DIANTHUS, states that “one way that DIANTHUS will serve as a tool for general practitioners as well as specialists, is in the collection of critical patient data which can be used for possible studies on the disease”.
The software was developed with the help of a group of physicians in Italy and introduced during the Course On Thromboembolism Disease held in Parma, Italy on April 9th. The course was co-sponsored by Sanofi Aventis, Boston Scientific & Instrumentation Laboratory.
DIANTHUS is available through Instrumentation Laboratory S.p.A., Milan, Italy.
